Performance of DNS as Location Manager using Random Waypoint Model

چکیده
— Domain Name System (DNS) can be deployed in the network as a Location Manager (LM) for mobility management. The suitability of DNS as a LM can be measured on how successfully it can serve to locate a mobile host. In this paper, we developed an analytical model to measure the performance of DNS as LM for mobility management techniques with IP Diversity support based on success rate which takes into account the Radius of the subnet, the residence time of MH in that subnet, latency in the network and the overlapping distance of two neighboring subnets. Our analysis shows that for a reasonable overlapping distance, DNS can serve as a LM with very high success rate even under some high network latency.

Performance of DNS as Location Manager using Cell Residence Time
— Domain Name System (DNS) maps domain names to IP addresses in the Internet. DNS can, however, be used as a Location Manager (LM) for mobility management in wireless mobile networks. The suitability and performance of DNS as a LM for locating mobile hosts (MH) has not been studied in the past. In this paper, we develop an analytical model to measure the performance of DNS as LM for IP diversit...
متن کاملModeling of VANET Technology & Ad-Hoc Routing Protocols Based on High Performance Random Waypoint Models
Today, one of the new technologies in the modern era is Vehicular Ad-hoc Network which has takenenormous attention in the recent years. Because of rapid topology changing and frequent disconnectionmakes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data between vehicles, called V2V orvehicle to vehicle communication and vehicle to roadside infrastructure, called V2I. Designin...
متن کاملRandom WayPoint Mobility Model based Performance Estimation of MANET in terms of Average End to End Delay, Jitter and Throughput for CBR Application
In this paper, we are configuring an Adhoc mode scenario using QualNet as a Simulation tool to study impact of Random Waypoint mobility on QoS issues in MANET like Average end-to-end delay, jitter and throughput by varying number of nodes within a subnet. Different sets of reading were taken for six cases with varying number of nodes from 7 to 100 using CBR traffic type. We found that Random Wa...
متن کاملA Statistical Equivalent Model for Random Waypoint Mobility: A Case Study
Statistical Equivalent Models, or SEMs, have recently attracted considerable interest as a general approach to study computer simulators. By fitting a statistical model to the simulator’s output, SEMs provide an efficient way to quickly explore the simulator’s result. In this paper, we develop a SEM for random waypoint mobility, one of the most widely used mobility models employed by network si...
